As the manager of the Liability/Property Claims Unit, the COO is responsible for supervising and coordinating tasks and schedules in the Liability/Property Claims Unit. He reviews adjuster claims files to ensure they have operated according to all claims processing guidelines. He also acts as a facilitator and mentor by overseeing claims committee meetings and is instrumental in all adjuster training. Working with the MMIA Board of Directors, MMIA legal counsel and the MMIA Board Claims Committee, he ensures that claims are handled in a manner that addresses all potential political and legal concerns.
The Senior Adjusters handle the most complex liability and/or property claims filed by MMIA members. They conduct numerous skilled investigations, surveys incident scenes, conducts interviews, and routinely works with MMIA Counsel and the MMIA Board of Directors Claims Committee to ensure proper adjustment of claims.
The Adjusters each handle a substantial claims load for MMIA members. They maintain a high level of proficiency through internal MMIA training, various insurance classes, certification programs and correspondence courses. They deal extensively with MMIA members (and MMIA Board Members via a Board Claims Committee) as they conduct investigations, surveys and interviews with member representatives and claimants in order to ensure efficient administering of liability and property claims.
The Claims Technician helps adjusters prepare claims for investigation/closure. She inputs the claims into the MMIA’s general claims software and provides administrative support to the Liability/Property Claims Unit. She issues payments for legal fees and settlements, changes reserves, prepares status and closing reports, and provides administrative support to the unit.
